BACKGROUND:
Dennis Lynch, Sierra Club Chickasaw Group Chair, says “The brief presentations, at 6:00pm, will give Sierra Club background and history, and highlight a few successful Sierra Club campaigns, as well as current campaigns and how participants can get involved. Some speakers will reveal their story of how they became involved with Sierra Club. It will be a warm-up to get energized and involved in the environment and our community.
Scott Banbury, Sierra Club Conservation Projects Coordinator, says “The highlight of the program will be “Speed Dating the Environment.” This activity will give everyone a chance to learn some of the specific things going on in clean air, clean water, transportation, and other areas the Sierra Club is involved in. Activists will sit at various tables by subject area. Small groups of participants will go to each table to listen, discuss and brainstorm about the subject of each table. Every 5 minutes they will go to the next table, and begin a new, brief but exciting discussion of ideas they have on that table’s subject area. It should make for some lively and fun conversations.”
Dennis Lynch said “Anyone concerned about the environment should come to this Sierra Club program at the Main Library on Poplar next Thursday, May 28. It’ll be fun and interesting!”
